Paws On Patrol is a crime prevention program that encourages resident dog owners to serve as extra eyes and ears for the community. At any given time, in every kind of weather, Normandy Park has an abundance of four-legged residents out and about with their human friends. Anyone who walks their dog within the City is encouraged to join AND it doesn’t require you to do anything you’re not already doing!
Paws on Patrol members are simply asked to watch a brief educational Power Point that consists of tips on how to spot suspicious behavior, what information is pertinent to law enforcement and how best to relay that information to 911 dispatchers. Additionally, you will receive occasional emails with information about local crime trends and how best to prevent yourself from becoming a victim. Your pup will receive a “Paws on Patrol” dog tag which he/she can wear along with the other 150+ canine residents who are out and about proudly wearing theirs!
Residents involved in Paws on Patrol have stated they feel an increased sense of involvement, ownership and pride in their community. They have expressed an overall heightened level of awareness and have assisted NPPD in preventing crime, capturing criminals, and helping kids and vulnerable adults get home safe. NPPD is thankful and appreciative of the effort and involvement these dog-loving residents put forth.
