Events and the calendar
Our fundraisers, Shop with a Cop and community gatherings are listed on the home page and on our events page. Each event has its own page with the time, the place and how to take part, and you can keep one event, or every event we post, in your own calendar.

- Each event has its own page: when it is, in Pacific time, and where.
- When an event has an address, Directions opens it in a map. When it takes sign-ups, choose Sign up for this event.
- To keep this one event, use Add to calendar.
- Download the calendar file for Apple Calendar, Outlook and most other apps, or add it straight to Google Calendar.

- Thank you for supporting the Normandy Park Police Foundation.
In short
- Coming up on the home page shows the next few events. Events, in the header, lists everything coming up, soonest first, then past events.
- An event’s page gives When, Where with Directions, Cost, and Sign up for this event when it takes sign-ups.
- Add to calendar on an event’s page keeps that one event in your calendar: Download calendar file (.ics) or Add to Google Calendar.
- Subscribe to our events calendar on Events puts every event we post in your calendar, and your calendar app keeps it up to date by itself.
Step by step
Find an event
- See Coming up on the home page, or choose Events in the header for the whole list.
- Under Coming up, events are listed soonest first, each with its date, time and place. Past events follow under Past events.
- Choose an event’s title to open its page.
- You can also search for an event: choose Events under Kind.
Take part in an event
- On the event’s page, When gives the day and time, in Pacific time, and Where gives the place.
- Choose Directions under the address to open it in a map.
- Cost says what it costs, if anything.
- When the event takes sign-ups, choose Sign up for this event. It opens the sign-up page the event names, which may be another group’s site.
Add one event to your calendar
- On the event’s page, find Add to calendar.
- Choose Download calendar file (.ics). The file opens in Apple Calendar, Outlook and most other calendar apps, which offer to add the event with its time and place.
- Or choose Add to Google Calendar, which opens Google Calendar with the event filled in for you to save.
Subscribe to every event
- Open Events and find Subscribe to our events calendar.
- Choose Subscribe in Apple Calendar or Outlook, or Subscribe in Google Calendar, and confirm in the calendar app that opens.
- For another calendar app, copy the address under the buttons and add it as a subscription in that app.
- From then on, every event we post appears in your calendar, and changes and cancellations follow by themselves.
Good to know
- Times are Pacific time. An all-day event shows only its days.
- A cancelled event stays on its page, marked This event is cancelled., so nobody turns up by mistake. An event that has ended is marked This event is over.
- Some events are for a group of people only, such as Blockwatch members or the board. You see one only when you are signed in and in that group, and it is marked Only for: with the group.
- Search and the events calendar you subscribe to carry only events for everyone.
- Your calendar app decides how often it checks for changes, usually every few hours; Google Calendar can take longer.
- Signing up for an event happens on the page the event names. We don’t keep a list of who signed up.
Questions and answers
Our events
What does “Hosted by …” mean?
The event is run by another group, such as Friends of Normandy Park, and we take part in it or support it. Its page says who is hosting it.
Someone mentioned an event I can’t find. Why?
It may be for a group of people only, such as Blockwatch members. Sign in with the account that belongs to that group to see it. If it still isn’t there, write to us.
Your calendar
Should I add one event or subscribe to the whole calendar?
Add one event when you only want that one. Subscribe when you would like every event we post, kept up to date as times change or events are cancelled.
How do I stop the subscription?
Remove or unsubscribe from the calendar in your calendar app’s settings. Nothing on our site needs changing.
If something goes wrong
The messages you may see, word for word (“…” stands for a part that changes), what they mean and what to do.
- “Nothing on the calendar yet”
There is no event coming up just now.
What to do: Subscribe to our events calendar on the same page, and new events appear in your calendar as we post them, or read our news.
- “No more past events”
You have gone past the last page of past events.
What to do: Choose See what’s coming up to go back to the list.
- “This event is over.”
The event has ended; its page stays for the record.
What to do: See Events for what is coming up next.
- “This event is cancelled.”
The event will not take place.
What to do: If you added it to your calendar from its file, remove it there. A subscription removes it by itself.
Still need help?
