Email from the Foundation
We have two email lists: our newsletter, and now and then special offers, invitations to events and the occasional appeal. We add you only after you confirm your address, and every email has a link to stop them.

- This short video shows you how to get the Normandy Park Police Foundation’s emails, choose which ones you get, and stop them.
- To get our newsletter, type your email address under Stay in touch, on the home page, or in the form at the foot of any page.
- Then choose Sign up. You don’t need an account.
- We send you an email, to check the address is yours before we add it.
- Open the email headed Confirm your email address, and choose Confirm my email address.
- If it hasn’t come in a few minutes, look in your spam or junk folder.
- Our Confirm your subscription page opens.
- Press Confirm my subscription. Opening the link alone confirms nothing, because some mail filters open links before you do.
- That’s it: you’re on the list. Every email we send has a link to stop them.
- With a free account, you choose your lists yourself, on your account page, under Email from the Foundation.
- The Newsletter is our news. Special offers are now and then: invitations to events, and the occasional appeal.
- Switch either one on or off. It takes effect at once.
- To stop our emails, switch a list off here, or choose the unsubscribe link in any email from our lists. That works without signing in.
- Receipts and sign-in links still come, because they aren’t lists.
- You’re all set. Our sign-up form is at the foot of every page, and your choices are on your account page.
- Questions? Look for Help, or Contact, at the bottom of every page.
- Thank you for supporting the Normandy Park Police Foundation.
In short
- Type your email address in the form at the foot of any page, or under Stay in touch on the home page, and press Subscribe or Sign up. No account needed.
- Open the email we send and choose Confirm my email address. On the page that opens, press Confirm my subscription. Opening the link alone confirms nothing.
- With an account and a confirmed email address, switch Newsletter and Special offers on or off on your account page at any time.
- Every email from our lists has an unsubscribe link, which works even when you are not signed in.
- Sign-in links, receipts, store order emails and notices about your gifts are not newsletters: they come whatever you choose.
Step by step
Sign up for the newsletter
- Type your email address in Foundation news by email at the foot of any page and press Subscribe, or on the home page, under Stay in touch, and press Sign up.
- The form says Almost there. Open the link in the email we just sent to confirm your address.
- Confirm your address: see Confirm your subscription.
Confirm your subscription
- Open the email headed Confirm your email address.
- Choose Confirm my email address. Our Confirm your subscription page opens.
- Press Confirm my subscription. The page says Subscription confirmed. Thank you. and you are on the list.
- If you aren’t signed in, the page then offers a free account: one emailed link makes it, with your address already confirmed.
Choose the lists when you make an account
- When you make an account with a password, leave Send me the Foundation’s newsletter and Send me occasional special offers ticked, or untick either.
- We email you a link to confirm, as above. Nothing is sent to a list until you press it. See Make an account with a password.
Choose your lists on your account page
- Sign in and open your account page. Go to Email from the Foundation.
- Switch Newsletter (news from the Foundation) or Special offers (special offers, invitations to events and the occasional appeal) on or off. It takes effect at once: the page says Subscribed. Thank you. or Unsubscribed.
- If your email address isn’t confirmed yet, the switches wait for it: choose Email me a sign-in link in the section and open the link, which confirms the address.
Stop our emails
- Choose the unsubscribe link in any email from our lists. It works without signing in.
- Or switch the lists off on your account page, under Email from the Foundation.
- To start again later, switch a list back on there, or sign up again with the form and confirm.
Good to know
- We add you to a list only once you press Confirm my subscription on our own page. Opening the emailed link confirms nothing on its own, because some mail filters open links before you do.
- A confirmation link works once and expires after 48 hours.
- We send at most one confirmation email to an address every ten minutes, and only a few a day. Asking again sooner sends nothing new; the link already sent keeps working.
- The form at the foot of the page and on the home page sign you up for the newsletter. Special offers are chosen when you make an account, or on your account page.
- Switching a list on from your account page needs a confirmed email address.
- We never sell your address. The privacy page says what our email system holds.
- Sign-in and confirmation links, gift receipts, notices about your monthly or yearly gifts, store order emails and Blockwatch messages are sent whether or not you are on a list.
Questions and answers
The lists
What will you send me?
The newsletter is our news: what your gifts pay for, events such as Shop with a Cop, and Blockwatch updates. Special offers are now and then: special offers, invitations to events, and the occasional appeal. Choose either or both.
Do I need an account to get the newsletter?
No. Sign up with the form at the foot of any page. An account lets you choose both lists yourself, at any time, on your account page.
Will you email me after I give?
Your receipt comes at once, whatever lists you are on. We may also write to thank you or welcome you, never more than once a week; see the FAQ.
Confirming
The confirmation email hasn’t arrived. What should I do?
Wait a few minutes, then look in your spam or junk folder for an email headed Confirm your email address. Check the address you typed. Asking again within ten minutes sends nothing new, so wait before you try again.
Stopping
Will unsubscribing stop my receipts?
No. Receipts, sign-in links and emails about your orders and monthly gifts are not lists, and keep coming.
I unsubscribed by mistake. How do I start again?
Switch the list back on on your account page, or sign up again with the form at the foot of any page and confirm.
Why can’t I switch a list on?
Your email address isn’t confirmed yet, or email to it is bouncing. The section says which, and what to do.
If something goes wrong
The messages you may see, word for word (“…” stands for a part that changes), what they mean and what to do.
- “Almost there. Open the link in the email we just sent to confirm your address.”
Your request worked. You are not on the list yet.
What to do: Open the email, choose its link and press Confirm my subscription.
- “This confirmation link is invalid or has expired. Subscribe again to get a new one.”
The link was used already, or it is more than 48 hours old.
What to do: Sign up again with the form at the foot of any page, and use the new link soon.
- “This link is missing its confirmation code.”
Part of the link was lost, often when an email program breaks a long link over two lines.
What to do: Choose the link in the email rather than copying it, or sign up again for a new one.
- “Enter an email address like name@example.com.”
The address typed is missing a part, such as the @.
What to do: Check the address and press the button again.
- “Too many attempts. Wait a minute, then try again.”
The form was sent many times in a short time.
What to do: Wait a minute, then try once more.
- “Email to … is bouncing, so we cannot send you anything.”
Emails to your address come back undelivered, so we can’t add it to a list.
What to do: Check your mailbox is working, then write to us and we will sort it out.
